EYE-Q provides the latest technology available for our patients including a choice of vision correcting lasers. Our LASIK Team, Dr. Robin Smit, Dr. Alan Nerenberg, Dr. Sam Hinton , and Dr. Michael Walker will perform pre-operative examinations to determine which laser will provide the opportunity for the best possible outcome for the patient. Dr. Smit has been a pioneer in introducing all laser LASIK vision in the Valley since 2002.

IntraLase All-Laser Technology

With the IntraLase Method, tiny pulses of laser light, a quadrillionth of a second each, pass harmlessly through the outer portion of your cornea and form a uniform layer of microscopic bubbles just beneath the surface of your eye. The exact dimensions of this layer of bubbles are determined by your doctor based on what's best for your eye, and are computer controlled for maximum precision- things that are not possible with a hand-held blade.

The IntraLase flap creation process takes about 30 seconds. When it's time for your LASIK treatment to be performed, your doctor easily separates the tissue where these bubbles occur and then folds it back, thus creating your corneal flap. When LASIK is complete, a flap created using the IntraLase Method is uniquely able to "lock" back into place. Your eye then begins to rapidly heal. Advanced IntraLase technology gives your doctor the highest degree of surgical control for the most safe and effective procedure you can have.

Allegretto Wavelight Laser

Eye-Q Laser Center is committed to offering our patients the safest and most advanced technology available to achieve the best possible outcomes. It is for this reason we have added Allegretto Wave with PerfectPulse technology to our laser center, complimenting the LADARVision CustomCornea® wavefront guided platform we offer to our patients.

The Allegretto Wave excimer laser system built by Wavelight Laser Technologie is the world's only system to incorporate wavefront principles into it's standard platform. With a repetition rate of 200 pulses per second, Wavelight's laser is the fastest on the US market today. Perfect-Pulse technology features a unique approach to cornea sculpting. The Allegretto Wave automatically delivering pulsations according to each eye's individual refractive error and corneal curvature. This provides large optical zones that contribute to high quality vision, especially at night when the pupil enlarges.

The Allegretto Wave excimer laser system was granted final FDA approval in 2003. It is the only laser system that has received approval for nearsightedness and farsightedness with astigmatism and clearance for the widest treatment range initially granted to a new laser.

Alcon Ladar Vision Laser

Every eye is unique, so all eyes need different amounts of treatment in different areas. This is measured by advanced Wavefront mapping using the LADARWave Wavefront device. The intricacies of these measurements on the map are matched to the eye, and then used by the excimer laser to guide its fine gradual reshaping of the cornea. Only a small-spot laser is accurate enough to make such tiny corrections. The reshaping involved is microscopic. The Ladar Vision Excimer Laser beam is non-heat generating, so it can reshape the cornea without thermal damage. The laser sculpts the cornea's surface using high energy wavelengths of light.

When used with our Ladar vision system's eye tracking device and Ladar wave Wavefront device, the Excimer laser beam allows the surgeon to place laser pulses precisely where they are needed, providing you with a completely customized LASIK procedure, called Custom Cornea.
